The Symposium on Foreign Language and Literature from the Multidisciplinary Perspective and Interdisciplinary Research in Humanities and Social Sciences Successfully Held in Shaoxing University, China
The Symposium on Foreign Language and Literature from the Multidisciplinary Perspective and Interdisciplinary Research in Humanities and Social Sciences was held between November 26 and November 28, 2021 in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, China. The symposium, under the guidance of the International Association for Interdisciplinary Humanities and Social Sciences Research (IAIHSSR), was hosted by Shaoxing University and sponsored by Asia-Pacific Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (APJHSS), Asia-Pacific Publishing Group, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, Peking University Press, Nanjing University Press, and Zhangjiajie Education Consulting Co., Ltd as well.
The forum aimed to further break the disciplinary barriers, promote the development of foreign language and literature, as well as the humanities and social sciences in relevant fields to make greater knowledge contributions to the society. Professor William Andrew Zankin, president of IAIHSSR, Gert Grobler, former ambassador of South Africa and senior researcher of the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University, Yoro Diallo, former first counsellor of the Embassy of Mali in China, and other experts and scholars from universities and industries at home and abroad attended the symposium. The symposium was broadcast live through Tencent and other media platforms with more than 500 registered participants. William Andrew Zankin was invited to give a keynote speech. He, on behalf of the IAIHSSR, expressed his gratitude to experts, scholars, teachers and students in the forum. At the same time, he introduced the development of the association's exchanges, its integration into the Belt and Road Initiative, and its service of international top-notch innovative talents training. Professor Huang Youyi, former deputy director and chief editor of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and vice president of China Translation Research Institute, Professor Liu Hongwu of Zhejiang Normal University, Professor Hu Kaibao of Shanghai International Studies University, Professor Zhu Chaowei of Sichuan International Studies University, Professor Zhu Zhenwu of Shanghai Normal University and other well-known scholars made keynote speeches respectively. The participants exchanged views on translation, foreign literature, linguistics, foreign language education, regional and national issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. It's widely agreed that this forum will play a positive role in promoting the interdisciplinary development of foreign language and literature and the interdisciplinary research of international humanities and social sciences.
The IAIHSSR will continue to cooperate with well-known universities at home and abroad to hold high-end forums, promote the in-depth integration of interdisciplinary disciplines, provide a broader perspective and richer methods for foreign language and literature research, and promote extensive exchanges and discussions in relevant fields of humanities and social sciences. Dr. Jiang Lin, chief editor of APJHSS and executive vice president of IAIHSSR, was also invited to attend the offline meeting.
